What it replaces

NumberMakerWhat it is
47080000GrohePressure Balance Valve Cartridge on grohe.us. Grohe's parts breakdowns print it as 47080, 47 080 or 47.080 and call it the pressure balancing cartridge.

Where it goes

Confirm it is your part

  1. Count the splines on the stem tip: 20. One parts seller notes a flat section, so not every spline shows, and gives the splined tip as 7.6 mm across on a compatible replacement.
  2. Look at the sides of the body. Sellers describe this cartridge as black with smooth sides. Two ridges on a gray body, or gills on a black body, mean a different Grohe cartridge.
  3. Look for H and C marks on the cartridge. Grohe's instruction refers to hot H and cold C markings on it.
  4. Turn it over. Grohe's instruction describes two alignment pins on the rear that seat in holes in the valve body.
  5. Check each side for a built-in check valve with a small O-ring. A seller's diagram shows one per side, and a distributor describes the part as a cartridge with check valve.
  6. Recall how it was held. Grohe's instruction puts it under a valve cover fastened with four corner screws, behind a driver and a stop ring on the stem.
  7. Compare the flange. The FourHome part as photographed is black, with a square flange with four holes and a chrome-sleeved stem ending in a splined tip.

Look-alikes

Grohe 47157000, enhanced flow cartridge

Why it gets confusedSame family and the same 20-point stem. It serves the Grohsafe 35 250, in the same 35 2xx number range.

How to tellParts sellers describe a gray body with two ridges on the sides. 47080000 is described as black with smooth sides. A Grohe parts distributor warns the two are not interchangeable. Length will not separate them.

Grohe 47678000

Why it gets confusedAlso black, also a 20-point stem, and sold under the same Grohe name, Pressure Balance Valve Cartridge.

How to tellOne parts seller describes gills on the sides and separate, modular check valves. Grohe lists a separate non-return valve, 47687000, for the valves that take it. The same seller describes 47080000 with no ridges on its sides and integrated check valves.

Grohe 47995000

Why it gets confusedGrohe's 35 015 001 replaced the 35 015 000, so the valve numbers read alike on paper.

How to tellGrohe's brochure describes a one-piece cartridge held by a fastening nut, with a blue core for identification. One distributor lists it at 4-1/8 in. 47080000 sits under a cover held by four screws.
