Moen 1200 is the brass-shell cartridge under the handle of a Moen push-pull single-handle faucet or tub and shower valve. 1200B is the same part in bulk packaging. Moen's parts sheets list the replacement as 1200 or 1225, so either number services the same valves.
Schematic, not to scale. It shows only the features named on this page. No bench photo of this part yet.
Single-Handle Brass Replacement Cartridge. The brass-shell version. This page.
1200B
Moen
Moen lists it under the same name with (Bulk) added. Same cartridge, bulk packaging.
1225
Moen
One-Handle Replacement Cartridge. The plastic-shell version for the same valves. Moen's parts sheets accept either number. It has its own page.
Where it goes
Moen's illustrated parts sheets give the replacement cartridge as 1200 or 1225 for Chateau single-handle lavatory faucets (4601, 4621, 4625, 64601, 64620, 64621, 64625, in the version held by a clip) and for the Legend 7300 kitchen faucet.
The same line appears on Moen's sheets for Monticello single-handle tub and shower trims (T2522, T2524, T2529, 2523, 2525 to 2528, 2575, 2577) and for the Concentrix 3100 series.
Moen's shower cartridge guide lists the 1225, the plastic-shell version of this cartridge, for single-handle Standard and Moentrol valves with a push-pull handle.
Later versions of the same Chateau model numbers take the 1255 with a cartridge nut. That is a different part.
Confirm it is your part
Work the handle before taking anything apart. This cartridge pulls out for on and volume and rotates for temperature. On a single-handle mixing valve, Moen's guide assigns a handle that only rotates to the 1222.
Look at what holds the cartridge. Moen lists a U-shaped copper-colored clip that slides into the valve body on top of the cartridge. A hexagonal nut means a different cartridge.
Look at the shell. The 1200 is brass on the outside. A clear plastic body around a brass stem is the 1225.
Look at the top of the cartridge. Moen's instructions describe two tabs that sit in slots in the valve body at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions.
Pull the stem. Moen's removal steps have the stem pulled out until it stops, so the stem slides inside the shell.
On a tub and shower valve, Moen's steps list a stop tube on the valve body and a D washer on the cartridge stem, both ahead of the clip.
Find the faucet's Moen parts sheet. The sheets for the models above print "Replacement Cartridge 1200 or 1225".
Look-alikes
Moen 1225 and 1225B
Why it gets confusedSame valves, same clip, same push-pull handle. Moen's parts sheets name either number.
How to tellDanco describes its 1225 replacement as a clear plastic outer body with a brass stem. The 1200 shell is brass. Danco says its brass 1200 replacement interchanges with plastic cartridges.
Moen 1222 and 1222B Posi-Temp
Why it gets confusedAlso a single-handle tub and shower cartridge held by a clip. Moen's 104421 puller is made for the 1200, 1225 and 1222.
How to tellMoen's guide lists the 1222 as rotate only, with no volume control. Moen's Posi-Temp parts sheet shows a different retainer clip, 96914. One parts seller states the 1222 does not interchange with the 1200 or 1225.
Moen 1255
Why it gets confusedLater versions of the same Chateau lavatory model numbers use it.
How to tellMoen's parts sheet shows the 1255 held by a cartridge nut that is changed with the cartridge. There is no U-shaped clip. Moen's guides call it the Duralast cartridge.
Moen 1224
Why it gets confusedA common Moen cartridge with a similar number.
How to tellMoen lists the 1224 for two-handle and three-handle faucets. The handles rotate only and the cartridge is held by a nut.

Where the sources disagree, the figure is left off until it is settled.
Overall length. The catalogs and the aftermarket makers print different figures and no Moen document gives one, so no figure is printed.
Shell diameter, for the same reason.
Stem end shape and broach. Catalogs describe it differently and no Moen document gives a broach, so none is printed.
Year range. Sources give different cutoff years for different part numbers, so no year is printed.
Several aftermarket numbers that circulate for this cartridge. No page was found that names them together with Moen 1200.
Field notes
Moen's parts sheets list the retainer clip as its own part: 883, 1883 or SK1711 depending on the faucet. Moen also sells clips for 1200 and 1225 cartridges as 96365.
Some model numbers exist in more than one version. Moen's Chateau sheet says so at the top and shows a clip version (1200 or 1225) and a nut version (1255).
