Gerber 98-673 and 98-674 tub and shower compression stem
Gerber's parts lists call 98-673 the Compression Cartridge-Hot and 98-674 the Compression Cartridge-Cold, for two, three and four handle tub and shower fittings. Parts sellers list both as a stem and bonnet assembly. The FourHome replacement is the brass stem alone.
Schematic, not to scale. It shows only the features named on this page. No bench photo of this part yet.

Where it goes
Gerber's Illustrated Parts Lists carry 98-673 and 98-674 on the Two Handle, Three Handle and Four Handle Tub/Shower Fitting pages, including series 46-220, 46-430, 47-130-83, 48-030, 48-220 and 48-224. The lists opened are the 2016 file.
Retailers describe them as for Gerber Classics tub and shower faucets with round handles.
Gerber's lists show other parts for single-lever Safetemp valves and for ceramic disc tub and shower valves. The FourHome listing says its stem does not fit those valves either.
Confirm it is your part
It is a compression stem: a brass shaft carrying a washer that closes on a seat in the valve body. Gerber's ceramic disc tub and shower parts carry other numbers, 98-705 hot and 98-709 cold.
Count the splines on the handle end. BrassCraft, Noel's and Plumbmaster print 16 for this stem. Gerber gives no count, so count the old one.
Check the valve. Gerber's lists carry these numbers for two, three and four handle tub and shower fittings. Single-lever and ceramic disc valves use other parts.
Look for the number. Gerber's parts lists name 98-673 as the hot side and 98-674 as the cold side, so a parts list shows one or the other.
Sellers list Gerber's number as a stem and bonnet assembly. The FourHome part is the stem alone, so compare the stem by itself and not the bonnet.
Measure the old stem from broach tip to base of threads. Gerber gives no length and catalogs measure differently, so compare with the length stated on the FourHome listing.
Look-alikes
Gerber 98-726
Why it gets confusedSame brand, same three handle tub and shower fitting, same brass compression build.
How to tellGerber's 47-130-83 and 48-030 series three handle pages list 98-726 on its own line as Diverter Assembly, apart from the hot and cold Compression Cartridges. The FourHome listing does not sell it.
Gerber 98-673 against 98-674
Why it gets confusedTwo Gerber numbers for the two sides of one valve. The FourHome listing sells one stem for both positions.
How to tellGerber's lists name them hot and cold. No opened source shows a physical difference or states the thread hand of 98-674. Danco and BrassCraft each sell one stem for both sides.
Gerber 98-705 and 98-709
Why it gets confusedSame brand, tub and shower, and a hot and cold pair.
How to tellGerber labels them Ceramic Disc on the 58-400, 58-420, 58-500 and 58-520 series pages. 98-673 and 98-674 are labeled Compression Cartridge. The FourHome listing says it does not fit ceramic disc valves.
Gerber 98-688, 98-689, 98-698 and 98-699
Why it gets confusedGerber compression cartridges marked hot and cold, with the same Classics name.
How to tellGerber's cartridge sheets list them for Classics two handle kitchen and lavatory faucets 42-136 and 43-411, at 17 mm diameter. They are not tub and shower stems.
Gerber 97-022
Why it gets confusedA Gerber tub and shower part that the parts page calls Stem & Bonnet.
How to tell97-022 belongs to the 49-700 series single-lever pressure balance valve and works with a pressure balance cartridge. 98-673 and 98-674 belong to two, three and four handle fittings.

Whether 98-673 and 98-674 are physically the same part, and the thread hand of 98-674. No opened source states either, so neither is claimed.
