Sayco P002 is the hot side stem of the 308 and T-308 three-handle tub and shower valve. BrassCraft prints it as a right-hand thread part, and the FourHome listing seats it behind the left handle. The valve's other two stems carry the same 16-point broach.
Schematic, not to scale. It shows only the features named on this page. No bench photo of this part yet.

Where it goes
Danco's 9B-3H page and the Home Depot and HD Supply pages for it list Sayco bath faucet models 308 and T-308, from 1968.
Jones Stephens files a stem for the same two models under Sayco New Style and dates them from 1968 to current.
The FourHome listing says valves built before 1968 take a different stem, and that this one does not go in the cold or diverter position.
No factory parts sheet for the 308 turned up, so the model list rests on aftermarket catalogs.
Confirm it is your part
Start with the handle. In the FourHome listings for this valve, hot is the left handle, the diverter is the middle and cold is the right.
Note which way it unscrewed. A right-hand stem comes out counterclockwise. If the stem you pulled had to turn clockwise, it is the left-hand cold stem, P004.
Count the splines: there should be 16. BrassCraft files Sayco stems under broach code B, which its chart lists as 16-point, and Everbilt's P002 page reads 16 pt.
Check the tip. BrassCraft's parts list shows a bibb washer held by a bibb screw. Per the FourHome diverter listing, an O-ring sealed barrel above the washer marks the center diverter; the hot and cold stems lack it.
Gauge 9 and broach B place a stem in the 308 family but do not say which handle it came from. Danco files its hot, cold and diverter stems for this valve in that same slot.
Look-alikes
Sayco P004 cold stem
Why it gets confusedSame valve body, same broach code and gauge, and catalogs list it on the same line as P002.
How to tellP004 is cut left-hand and comes from the right handle. Park Supply sells the pair as RH hot and LH cold, and BrassCraft prints P004 LH.
Sayco 06550 center diverter stem
Why it gets confusedThe third stem in the valve. Danco gives it broach B and ID length 9 as well.
How to tellPulled from the middle position. Per the FourHome diverter listing, an O-ring sealed barrel sits above its seat washer, a feature that listing says the outer two stems lack.
Sayco K1-1116 right-hand stem (Everbilt 36434)
Why it gets confusedLike P002, it is a right-hand, 16-point Sayco tub and shower stem.
How to tellDifferent Sayco number. Everbilt lists 36434 at 4-3/4 in. against Sayco K1-1116, not P002, and the FourHome cold stem listing names 36434 as a separate part. Go by the number, since printed P002 lengths do not agree.
Danco 10B-1H/C stem for Sayco (15386B)
Why it gets confusedDanco Sayco stem with broach B, and HD Supply's page names the 308 series.
How to tellHD Supply's page for it gives ID length 10, not 9, and lists one stem for both hot and cold, for Sayco series 208, 208D and 308.

Overall length. The inch figures in print for P002 do not match one another, so this page gives none.
Whether P002 and P004 differ in anything but thread hand. Jones Stephens sells a single stem for either side while other catalogs sell a handed pair, and no source opened settles the body shape.
An end year for the 308 and T-308 valves. Only FourHome copy gives one.
A way to tell P002 from Sayco P1024, which Everbilt also sells as a 16-point hot side stem (24450). No source describes the difference, so match the number before ordering.
Kissler 23-3162H, a right-hand hot Sayco unit. The Kissler page opened does not print P002, so it is not listed as a cross-reference.
Field notes
One parts seller labels a P002 stem and bonnet as cold, for the left handle. Every catalog above calls P002 the hot stem. Go by handle position and thread hand.
Danco's 9B-3H is sold with a faucet seat. BrassCraft numbers the bibb seat for this stem on its own, SC1516X.
FourHome replacement
The FourHome replacement for Sayco P002 ships as one brass hot stem with its seat washer and packing already fitted, and no seat.
Catalogs disagree now and then, and makers revise parts without changing the number. Compare the old part before buying. Identify by measurement lists every indexed part near a given length and spline count.
